Understanding Success

How to choose a good center to start your parenthood journey. “Success rates” might be one of the key factors for patients to measure the center’s success. As a patient, when you are considering to choose a center for your fertility treatment, you should not only look at the center’s pregnancy rates but consider investigating the delivery/live birth rates. Since 1992, reproductive specialists in the US are required by law to report the success rates including delivery rates as well as other outcomes data to the CDC. This data is also published by the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART).

We know that patients do their homework before deciding on a center for their infertility treatment. It turns out, not all infertility centers and fertility treatments provide the same results. We would like to recommend doing your research on an official organization specializing in the field of reproductive medicine such as the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART). You should not only check out the pregnancy rates, but the live birth rates as well. The Center’s overall success rates can have a big impact on your care and chance of success. Especially considering IVF care, patients should ask the following questions on their initial consultation:

  • Has the center consistently reported to the CDC and SART with delivery rates at or above the national average?
  • Comprehensive Chromosome Screening (CCS) also known as Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) for embryonic testing?
  • Does the center routinely perform tophectoderm embryo biopsy when genetic screening is indicated?
  • Does the center account for endometrial synchronization during time of embryo transfer?
  • Does the center limit the number of embryos transferred to one or two in all patients at all times?
  • Are their costs in line with their success rates? Are their fees excessive or discounted too heavily?

Everything counts, it is a team effort. At RMA of Southern California, we believe a patient’s success can be directly attributed to the fertility clinic that they choose. Our network of RMA centers have achieved unparalleled success rates in the US due to medical and technological advancements in the field of reproductive medicine.

Since 1999, the RMA network has been pioneering processes like Select CCS also known as Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS), extended embryo culture, blastocyst embryonic biopsy, and endometrial synchrony just to name a few. It’s this type of dedication that has resulted in high pregnancy success rates year-after-year. Our goal at RMA of Southern California is to continue delivering the same patient-focused care with similar outcomes.  We will strive to give our patients the highest pregnancy and live birth success.
